Making Sense of Teledatacom Protocols, Part Two: Integration Considerations

This is the second in a series of Artesyn white papers focusing on the converging Teledatacom network and the opportunities and challenges it presents. Our first installment, "Defining Your System Requirements," provided an overview of the technologies, standards and protocols supporting this network transformation. It also analyzed the data requirements, transport media and various hardware and software options available to system designers. This chapter looks at various integration considerations, including whether to outsource or build, and describes what to look for in both a hardware vendor and, ideally, a tightly coupled software protocol vendor.
