Linking the New Network to the PSTN
An integral part of many New Network applications is intelligent linking to the "old" network, or PSTN. New Network application platforms and servers require interfaces to the PSTN. Beyond that, they also must allow developers to control of all types of call connections to PSTN devices including switches, telephones, answering machines, fax machines and others. The TR1000, part of Brooktrout Technology's TRxStream Series of media resource platforms, provides on-board T1/E1/ISDN interfaces. In addition to the system density and cost and density advantages inherent in onboard interfaces, Brooktrout also provides robust call progress implementations and a high degree of control to developers. This paper describes the TR1000 call management features that allow developers to create innovative applications that bridge the New Network with the PSTN.
