How Should I Map Objects to Real-time Tasks and Vice Versa?

Tasks and objects are principal tools of a real-time OO software engineer, yet the two concepts and the principles that govern their use and design are quite different. This paper addresses the differences between the two concepts, the mapping between them, and approaches to their use. It also presents a number of techniques which can be used to combine task and object-based designs, an essential synthesis if a system design is to offer improved maintainability and reusability while retaining its all-important realtime behavior.
