With the explosion in Internet connectivity, a large number of corporations and homes are connected to the public network. However, Internet connectivity is also associated with numerous security threats. Firewall is a security tool that provides perimeter security to the networks. It provides configurable network access, authentication before accessing services. Firewalls also protect networks from DoS (Denial-Of-Service) attacks and other common attacks, for which tools are available in the public network.
