Efficient Implementation of a G.729 Speech Coder Using TMS32

This paper describes the details of ITU-T G.729 speech coder implementation using Texas Instruments' high performance programmable TMS320C6x DSP family and various techniques used in the optimization process. We will present the simple techniques to extend the coder for multiple channels using a telecomm application specific kernel (TASK), and we will submit the results of real-time MCPS (million cycles per second), memory requirements, processing delays, associated trade-offs and real-time evaluation of the coder.
