Developing a VoIP Stack

This article shall explore the issues, ambiguities, and headaches of developing an H.323 compliant stack and VoIP application. A basic knowledge of TCP/IP and the C language is assumed of the reader. Specific examples including the implementation of a procedure and defining a primitive to show what is necessary to build an application using both a primitive-based interface and an alternative, simplistic interface. Along the way, it is our intent to share bits of key information and commentary to aid in your VoIP project development. It is our goal to provide a brief introduction to the basics of H.323 and demonstrate what coding an application actually involves in terms of both development time and engineering resources.
