Control Networks and the Internet

Control networks bring all the advantage previously enjoyed by the computing world into the control world. The Internet, intranets and the infranets can work together to allow people to be in touch with "things" as well as other people. As in the computing world, the obvious benefits of networking, namely reduced development time, increased functionality and reliability, true interoperability, and simplified system maintenance are only the beginning for such a seamless hierarchy of networks. The ensuing "killer apps" will significantly enhance the word we live in for the next millenium.
