Behavioral Modeling of RF Circuits in Spectre RF

High-level RF design based on behaviorally described models allows the evaluation of the performance of the architecture and system at an early stage. It also serves as the top-down design methodology in a familiar circuit design environment. Furthermore, the mixed-level simulation, i.e., the combination of traditional circuit elements and behavioral block in a single simulation environment, provides much flexibility in such flow. This article describes typical issues encountered in the behavioral modeling of RF circuits using newly released RF library. Typical RF circuit characteristics, such as linearity, nonlinearity and noise in both single-ended and balanced circuits are addressed.
