Adaptive Server Anywhere Data Storage
This paper was written to provide an explanation of data storage within an Adaptive Server Anywhere database. Reading this paper should help you to understand how the space within the database is used. Adaptive Server Anywhere is designed to store data efficiently, using a small amount of disk space and allowing database operations to be executed relatively quickly. However, there are some things that you can do to reduce the size of your database and to improve the performance of your database. These include storing server files on different drives if possible, choosing a proper page size and using indexes appropriately. This paper should give you some idea of the effects of these actions so that you can decide how they apply to your particular database.
