WIN Enterprises Unveils RoHS Compatible SBC with AMD Geode Processor
3/14/2006 - WIN Enterprises, Inc., a leading designer and manufacturer of embedded controllers and platforms for OEMs, announces the IP-06060, a RoHS-compatible SBC which utilizes the AMD GeodeTM LX 800@0.9W processor. The 500 MHz processor is a low power consumer (0.9 watts) and has built-in encryption and 2-D graphics. The WIN SBC is only 5.7" x 4", and is designed to complement the AMD Geode processor with a SATA interface, VGA/LCD capability, two 10/100 LAN ports, audio and SSD.
The AMD Geode LX 800@0.9W processor is energy-efficient and designed for use in small computers, set-top boxes, TVs, handhelds, and consumer electronics devices. As an x86-based processor, the AMD Geode LX 800@0.9W processor will run the vast available library of conventional software. The AMD GeodeTM LX 800@0.9W processor operates at 500 MHz. The processor model number reflects performance as described on the AMD website.
"Power consumption is increasingly an area of concern for OEMs, particularly in small form factor designs," said Erik Salo, director of marketing for AMD’s Embedded Computing Solutions Division. "More power-intensive CPUs produce more heat, requiring bulky heat sinks and fans that add to the volume of the ultimate OEM device. The WIN MB-06060 is consistent with today’s embedded market needs, offering good performance and a small footprint with low power requirements."
