3/3/2006 - Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRCY) will showcase its expanded 3D to the Core platform at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR), March 3-7, in Vienna, Austria.
Mercury's 3D to the Core platform for OEMs is composed of the Visage(TM) highly integrated family of products that span the diagnostic workflow. The Visage family is designed from the ground up to be 3D -- significantly accelerating the processing of ever-larger amounts of medical imaging data, and cost-effectively enabling a 3D diagnostic workflow to be completely integrated within a radiology department's existing workflow.
A highlight of the Visage product family is the Mercury Visage 2.0 CS Thin Client/Server. The Visage CS Thin Client/Server solution expands 3D viewing capabilities to multiple users everywhere in a hospital and at remote sites, using existing PCs and laptops. This thin client/server approach is both cost-effective and empowering, as it plugs seamlessly into legacy hospital IT systems and eliminates reliance on a few, expensive 3D workstations. Visage CS 2.0 now includes critical clinical application and workflow capabilities for visualizing 3D medical image data, either tightly coupled with a scanning modality, or seamlessly integrated within a PACS environment.
"In addition to state-of-the-art 3D rendering techniques, Visage CS 2.0 now features hanging protocols and viewing comparison of multiple series/studies side by side, as well as vessel analysis and PET-CT protocols," said Marcelo Lima, Vice President of Commercial Imaging and Visualization at Mercury Computer Systems. "Through the thin client technology, the full set of functions becomes available anywhere, anytime, for any number of users throughout the hospital enterprise, without requiring special hardware on the client side."
At ECR, Mercury will demonstrate for the first time the integration of Visage PACS and Visage CS, which will enable the end user to seamlessly utilize the 3D functionality of Visage CS within the workflow of Visage PACS. Mercury will also demonstrate Visage PACS View, a new client version of Visage PACS. This introductory solution comprises both viewing and basic features for image processing.
"Visage PACS View is suited, for example, to smaller clinics in which the entire scope of Visage PACS Classic or Expert is not needed," said Oliver Lehner, Director of Worldwide Sales PACS at Mercury. "An upgrade to these client versions is also available through Mercury."
Mercury will also highlight a workflow optimization feature for Visage PACS 4.0 for modalities that produce ever-increasing volumes of data, such as CT (computed tomography) and MR (magnetic resonance). Visage PACS 4.0 now enables the user to display "Presentation States," which allow medical image data to be presented to clinicians in exactly the same way it was prepared by the interpreting radiologist or physician, including display parameters and annotations. In addition, Visage PACS 4.0 features improved integration with hospital and radiology information systems by means of IHE profiles and HL 7.
