2/21/2006 - Summit Design, Inc., a leading provider of electronic system-level (ESL) and hardware description language (HDL) design solutions, today announced expansion of its ESL and Embedded Systems Training Program into Europe, with the addition of Fraunhofer IIS as its first European partner.
The program, aimed at simplifying and accelerating SystemC adoption for both novice and advanced users, has grown to include leading SystemC training and consulting companies in the US, Japan, and now, Europe. Fraunhofer IIS offers broad SystemC training and seminar programs that leverage the instituteís cumulative know-how and depth of experience in IC design.
The instituteís pre-defined and customized SystemC technical training's provide hands-on experience with specific tools and design languages. Upon customer request, Fraunhofer IIS can now provide hands-on training that incorporates Summitís VistaTM solution into their training curricula.
Vista, an integrated development environment (IDE) for rapid SystemC based analysis and debug, simplifies basic SystemC training and ramps advanced training with powerful SystemC concepts and sophisticated debugging capabilities.
Vista features comprehensive design traceability that encompasses not only hardware signals, but also any C/C++ object or variable, without requiring source modification or instrumentation. The SystemC learning curve is eased for novice users, while advanced users gain benefits from greater observability into complex SOC designs.

Adding Summitís Vista to Fraunhoferís hands-on training provides designers with automatic viewing of communication protocols and system-level interfaces to identify transaction function calls between blocks. Vistaís Transaction-Sequence ViewerTM (TSV) supports constructs critical to the hardware portion of system-level design and provides advanced, effortless transaction-level analysis of complex SystemC transaction-level models.
