Kontron Debuts CP6012 CompactPCI 6HE Board with Intel Core Duo Processor

2/16/2006 - Kontronís CP6012, a 6U CompactPCI CPU board CP6012 with Intel® CoreTM Duo processor T2500 (2 GHz), meets the highest performance demands. With its E7520 and 6300ESB chipset, it handles data throughput like a server. Compared to Intel® Pentium® M, dual-core technology allows approximately twice the performance at similar power consumption. The PICMG 2.16-compliant Kontron CP6012 is designed for bandwidth-intensive applications and, thanks to hot-swap support and IPMI (PICMG 2.9-compliant Intelligent Platform Management Interface) meets the highest demands for the management of high-availability applications. Many of these are data and telecommunications applications, but also include highly sensitive, security-related solutions. Thanks to the robust construction of these systems, they are also ideal for image processing systems in medical technology (tomographs) and other vertical industries.

Alternatively, Kontronís CP6012 is available with a 1.66 GHz (LV Intel Core Duo processor), or the 1.87 GHz Intel Core Solo processor.

Kontronís CP6012 offers a high degree of integration and the latest interface technologies such as PCI Express, up to 4 GB/400 MHz DDR2 SODIMM RAM (6.4 GB/sec throughput) and a fast Serial-ATA interface including hard drive or CompactFlash slot on board. Four Gigabit Ethernet interfaces via PCI Express (two to the backplane / two front-side), max. 4x USB 2.0, 1xCOM, VGA, and rear I/O support round out the feature set. There is room for customer-specific expansions on an XMC or alternative PMC slot for mezzanine cards. The Kontron CP6012 offers sufficient graphics performance (VGA/CRT 1600 x 1200 pixels at 85Hz) thanks to the ATI ES1000.

Software support is offered for Linux (SuSE 9.3 or 10.0 and RedHAT Enterprise 4.0), Windows XP, XP embedded, and Windows Server.

Kontronís CP6012 with Intel Core Duo or Core Solo processors will go into series production in July. Samples are available on request.
