2/16/2006 - I-Logix, supplier of the industry's fastest growing Model-Driven Development (MDD) environment Rhapsody, announced that it has been named a Premium Member of the AUTOSAR organization. AUTOSAR is comprised of leading carmakers, Tier1 suppliers, modeling tool and technology vendors whose mission is to develop the premier automotive open source architecture for use across the industry.
"The AUTOSAR Foundation was very savvy to appoint I-Logix as a Premium member. I-Logix adds tremendous value to AUTOSAR, bringing extensive automotive industry experience and proven technology tools that can be leveraged to power innovative solutions for the automotive embedded software and systems market," Dr. Jerry Krasner, Embedded Market Forecasters, said.
The objective of the AUTOSAR partnership is the establishment of an open standard for automotive Electrical / Electronic (E/E) architecture. I-Logix plans to enhance the Rhapsody modeling environment to support AUTOSAR standard and provide integrations to complement AUTOSAR compliant tools. Also, both Rhapsody and Statemate will have additional support for generating code and documentation compliant with the AUTOSAR Software Component, AUTOSAR Virtual Functional Bus (VFB) and AUTOSAR Runtime Environment (RTE).
AUTOSAR has a three-tiered membership structure. The three levels are Core Members, Premium Members and Associate Members. I-Logix, as a Premium member, will contribute its technology and expertise in development of AUTOSAR standards and has rights in the development partnership, including the right to use the AUTOSAR technology with a free-of-charge license and royalty-free for automotive applications, the right to vote on Partnership issues, access to current information and specifications and the right to use to AUTOSAR related IP free of charge.
"I-Logix is honored to be a part of a select group of technology leaders who will shape the next generation of tools and processes for Automotive E/E applications," Neeraj Chandra, I-Logix Senior Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Development, said. "We are eager to contribute our Model-Driven Development and UML expertise to quickly translate the AUTOSAR vision into reality across the automotive industry worldwide."
