2/14/2006 - Third mobile phone based on UIQ 3 is a major addition to Sony Ericsson's family of Walkman phones. The W950 is an ultra-slim, ultra-stylish UMTS-enabled device with a hefty 4GB of onboard storage complete with touch screen for simple navigation through music genres, playlists, individual songs or music albums.
The W950 joins the recently announced Sony Ericsson P990 and M600 as the third mobile phone based on UIQ 3. These different kinds of phones demonstrate the flexibility of UIQ 3, the open software platform making it possible to create a wide range of phones based on one single codeline.
W950 is more than a music phone, with broadband-fast email and web browsing plus a suite of high performance entertainment applications adding to its capabilities, making it a most highly specified phone. Aimed squarely at the mobile entertainment market, the W950 makes full use of the extensive graphical features of the platform allied with an excellent music player, to create a truly compelling user experience.
The W950 will be commercially available in Q3 2006.
In October 2005, Sony Ericsson presented the first mobile phone on UIQ 3, the P990. And a week ago, on February 6, they presented the M600, the second mobile phone on UIQ 3.
