2/13/2006 - As well as announcing the addition of AMR support to the 6113 basestation test set, the addition of a handset trace capability to the SystemAT laboratory-based test system and significantly extended DTM, DARP and 3GPP Release 4 test case support for the 6103 AIME/CT mobile terminal protocol test system, Aeroflex is also demonstrating its complete 3G test coverage on its booth at Barcelona.
Aeroflex 3000 Series: The Aeroflex 3000 Series is a high performance, flexible, low cost modular PXI RF parametric test platform. The 3GSM demonstration will show how it can be used to perform faster 3GPP terminal production testing and will highlight the significant speed, scalability and performance benefits of adopting the versatile open hardware, open software platform in place of conventional instrumentation.
Aeroflex 6103 AIME/CT: The 6103 AIME/CT is a 3GPP 2/2.5G compliant protocol analyzer and conformance test system accredited at both the GCF and PTCRB capable of providing users with a powerful and flexible development tool as well as full protocol conformance test capabilities in the 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz GSM bands. Aeroflex will be demonstrating the system’s user friendly design, full protocol logging capabilities and ability to execute a vast selection of validated and approved GSM, AMR, GPRS, EGPRS and DTM test cases from Release 97 through to Release 4.
Aeroflex 6401 AIME/CT: The 6401 AIME/CT is Aeroflex's 3G protocol test system. It already supports Release 99 and Release 5 protocol standards and covers all the frequency bands currently deployed on today's 3G networks. New features being demonstrated include:
Aeroflex 6413A: The 6413A is a UMTS NodeB RF parametric tester that simulates the RNC via Iub interface and UE via RF monitoring. It is primarily used for the installation, commissioning and maintenance of Node Bs. Testing of a Node B is essential as it ensures the Node performance meets the required specification. Validation of a Node B’s performance is achieved by executing a series of transmitter tests based on 3GPP test models and receiver bit error rate tests. Receiver sensitivity tests are vitally important as they effectively confirm the cell coverage. A poor performing NodeB will impact network performance, customer perception of quality of service and inevitably network revenue. The on-stand demonstration shows how the testing of a Node B can be fully automated using test sequences. Transmitter tests performed include Maximum Output Power, Peak Code Domain Error, Frequency Error and Adjacent Channel Leakage Ratio. Key receiver measurements performed include Reference Sensitivity, Dynamic Range, Uplink Wideband Power and Absolute Sensitivity.
MINT RF Conformance Tester: In collaboration with Centro de Tecnología de las Comunicaciones (Cetecom Spain) Aeroflex will be showing the MINT RF Conformance Tester, a modular platform for GERAN (GSM, EDGE Radio Access Network) and UTRAN (UMTS Terrestrial Access Network) mobile terminal development and certification testing. The MINT RF Conformance Tester has been designed as an open testing platform that can be upgraded to support existing and future radio access technologies, test cases and frequency bands, making it an ideal and future-proof solution that can be developed with customers’ testing needs in mind.
The MINT RF system not only supports the official RF Conformance Test Cases (GCF and PTCRB) but also RF R&D testing beyond conformance requirements.
Aeroflex SystemAT: The Aeroflex SystemAT is an innovative laboratory-based product with applications for wireless network infrastructure and handset interoperability testing. Demonstrations are available of the very latest SystemAT release including integrated support for W-CDMA/GPRS/GSM protocol trace handsets. Trace handset support can substantially reduce the "time-to-solve" wireless network infrastructure problems found using the SystemAT by revealing the handset protocol information that is exchanged with the network.
Aeroflex TM500: The Aeroflex TM500 represents the industry standard for advanced 3G Node B and Network test. The TM500 provided the world’s first commercially available HSDPA test mobile in 2003 and repeated that achievement with the launch of the HSUPA option in 2005. The TM500 supports the maximum HSUPA and HSDPA data rates of 5.76Mbps and 13.97Mbps while providing comprehensive test and measurement features. Node B scheduler testing may be performed using the HSDPA and HSUPA Multi-UE options that simulate the Layer 1/2 operation of up to 32 mobiles in fading channel environments. With the evolving 3GPP Long Term Evolution standards, the TM500 is already developing the next generation OFDM-based technology.
