2/3/2006 - EDN Magazine, the Voice of the Engineer, named the final contenders in its 16th annual Innovation Awards program. From this select list of finalists, judging now goes to the engineering community at large around the world.
The prestigious EDN Innovation Awards draw hundreds of entries annually from every sector of the electronics industry. EDN's technical editors review the entries through a rigorous screening process and select the finalists, which are published in EDN's February 2, 2006 print issue and on EDN.com. Engineers who want a voice in selecting the year's most outstanding engineers and technology advances can vote for their favorites by going to www.edn.com/innovation, or they can cast a ballot directly. Voting continues from today through February 28th.
"Technology advancements do not just fuel computers and communications. The work engineers do touches every aspect of the way people live and work around the globe," stated John Schirmer, EDN's group publisher. "The innovations of engineers are seen everyday in the workplace, the living room, hospital corridors, in space exploration, and even the great outdoors. EDN's Innovation Awards program celebrates that ingenuity and invention."
"Once again, communications and digital media are the threads that link this year's finalists," said Maury Wright, EDN's editor-in-chief. "We had an especially large group of test entries resulting in a set of finalists specific to communications test. The digital, analog, and IC categories are full of communication and digital media enablers. There is also significant representation from the EDA and IP sectors, which are essential to the systems-on-chip that power digital media products. As always, the list of entrants is impressive."
