Ramtron Rolls Out UniVersaKit Microcontroller Development System
1/31/2006 - Ramtron International Corporation (Nasdaq: RMTR), a leading developer and supplier of semiconductor products, has launched the UniVersaKit (VERSAKIT-UVK), a development kit and evaluation system that supports all Ramtron Versa product families as well as most industry-standard 8051 microcontrollers. The UniVersaKit ships complete with IDE (Integrated Development Environment), C compiler and assembler.
The UniVersaKit is a complete and comprehensive evaluation platform for Versa mixed-signal and low cost Flash 8051-based MCU families. The UVK integrates the required support circuitry to minimise startup time, accelerate system prototyping and shorten time to market: The board includes voltage regulators (3.3V and 5V), an RS-232 transceiver, DB9 connectors, tact switches for manual reset/interrupt triggering, user LEDs, a serial two-wire FRAM, Piezo buzzer and driver circuitry, chip peripherals and I/Os that are easily accessible through probe vias and header footprints, character LCD display expansion capabilities and ample prototyping space.
The UniVersaKit development system ships complete with a development board that supports all Versa product families and Versa-ICP (In-Circuit Programmer) for programming and in-circuit debugging of Versa Mix 8051 MCUs (VMX51C1020/16) which can also be used for in-system programming in end product production. A Ramtron VMX51C1020 device is soldered onto the development board with a VMX1016 available upon request and a sample of the Versa 8051 VRS51C1000-40-L-ISPVx is also supplied. There is also a CD-ROM containing user guides, Versa Ware Programming Software and IDE/Compiler/Assembler as well as a serial cable and power supply.
Ramtron programming and debugging software is provided free with the UniVersaKit and updates are posted online.
