9/15/2005 - LynuxWorksTM Inc. will conduct a technology demonstration of its LynxSecure® Separation Kernel. Designed to meet the needs for the highest level of embedded software security, LynxSecure uses the space and time partitioning features of LynxOS®-178 safety-critical real-time operating system (RTOS) to provide the foundation for building highly secure systems utilizing the MILS (Multiple Independent Levels of Security) architecture. LynxSecure is designed for certification to Common Criteria EAL-7 (Evaluated Assurance Level 7) as well as DO-178B Level A.
LynuxWorks will demonstrate LynxSecure, LynxOS-178, LynxOS v4.0, BlueCat v5.1 and its complete family of embedded software security products. LynuxWorks will be the first in industry to introduce LynxSecure® Separation Kernel with BlueCat Linux running in a partition, as a guest operating system, along with a safety-critical demonstration introducing LynuxWorks’ support of Intel the IA-32 architecture for DO-178B applications.

The LynxSecure separation kernel provides a migration path for current LynuxWorks customers and supports software reuse by enabling BlueCat® LinuxTM and LynxOS-178 to run in user mode within LynxSecure partitions. This makes it very easy to support any existing Linux or POSIX software applications within a highly robust secure system based on LynxSecure.
Many defence systems that handle unclassified and classified information of different levels of classification must support Multi Level Security (MLS) and meet the highest levels of information assurance. The move toward Network Centric Warfare (NCW) and toward interconnection of many defence systems to a Global Information Grid (GIG) will increase the need for Multi Level Security. Similar security requirements are increasingly found in commercial systems such as financial networks and the national infrastructure.
