8/16/2005 - Aldec, Inc., a pioneer in mixed language simulation and advanced design tools for ASIC and FPGA devices, announced the signing of a site license for 10,000 RivieraTM HDL simulators to be installed at Renesas Design Vietnam Co., Ltd. Renesas Design Vietnam is a subsidiary of Renesas Technology Corp., a leading Japanese semiconductor vendor established as a joint venture between Hitachi, Ltd. and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation. Renesas has purchased Riviera-SNA (Simulator for Networking Applications) to be used for parallel verification of their microprocessor based system-level designs.
Terms of the Agreement
The Agreement between Aldec and Renesas covers a three-year period, is renewable and provides a virtual site license with access to 10,000 HDL simulators simultaneously. Aldec will be working directly with Renasas on set-up and configuration and will provide direct on-site support throughout the design lifecycle. The partnership will be analyzed quarterly and adjusted based on further verification requirements and implementation of other Aldec products such as hardware acceleration and co-verification.
“We are pleased to be working with Aldec and look forward to a successful partnership to address the verification demand of our next generation devices,” stated Tsuneo Sato, President of Renesas Design Viet Nam Co., Ltd. Adding, “Our best strategy for developing new technology is to work very closely with a company such as Aldec who is dedicated to providing solutions to our verification problems.”
“The opportunity to work closely with a company as prestigious as Renesas to solve their verification problems only validates that our solutions and support are of the highest quality,” stated Stanley Hyduke, President of Aldec. “Through close relationships with our customer base, we will continue to evolve our products and services to address the growing and changing needs of the design engineers in the field.”
Meeting Customer Needs
Designers’ increased use of automatic testbench generation tools over the last two years has caused rapid growth in simulation needs. This surge has resulted in an explosion in the number of testbenches and, in turn, simulation time needed for verification. Because of this, current simulation farms with access to 100 - 500 simulators can no longer do a satisfactory job. Together Aldec and Renesas are overcoming the challenges of verification time with the installation of Riviera-SNA. Renesas has access to 10,000 high performance simulators for quick certification of all design changes.
Riviera-SNA is based on Aldec’s common kernel simulation technology used by ASIC and high-density FPGA designers on new generation system-on-chip designs. Riviera-SNA is a batch mode, common kernel, multi-language simulator aimed at supporting large verification teams seeking access to an unlimited number of simulators.
Riviera-SNA currently runs on both 32 and 64-bit processors supporting Solaris, Linux and Windows operating systems. It supports VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog and SystemC mixed-designs with support for PSL, OVA and SVA assertions.
Aldec, Inc., a 21-year EDA tool provider, is committed to delivering high-performance, HDL-based design verification software for UNIX, Linux and Windows platforms. The company strongly believes that to be productive in today’s market and to best serve customers in the future, new technologies and innovations that go beyond traditional methods of conducting business in the EDA industry must be pursued. Aldec is committed to customer service and is actively developing a company that will evolve along with its customers’ designs. Additional information about Aldec is available at www.aldec.com.
