Synchronica Software Demonstrates Broad Interoperability at OMA TestFest

8/4/2005 - Synchronica Software, the European mobile synchronization and device management specialist, announced its successful participation in the recent Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) TestFest in Helsinki, Finland. Synchronica successfully completed interoperability tests of its Synchronica SyncML Gateway and Synchronica Device Management server with a large number of devices from different manufacturers with the OMA Data Synchronization and the OMA Device Management enablers.

Successfully completing the interoperability tests highlights Synchronica´s ongoing participation in the OMA standardization process and its commitment to helping operators and enterprises bring new services to market quickly and with confidence.

Mobile synchronization is widely adopted by enterprises today, but software enabling business users to synchronize appointments, e-mails, contacts and tasks over-the-air must demonstrate reliability and ease-of-use. The Synchronica SyncML Gateway has passed a wide range of global interoperability testing partnerships through the IOT Partner Program and is considered to be a best practice in mobile synchronization. Thanks to the broad acceptance of the open industry standard OMA Data Synchronization (SyncML), the Synchronica SyncML Gateway can synchronize corporate Microsoft Exchange and Sun JES servers with a large number of SyncML-enabled mobile devices without requiring additional client software on the device.

Mobile device management allows operators, service providers, and handset manufacturers to remotely manage, update and repair mobile devices. While the capabilities of 3G mobile devices are becoming ever more sophisticated, they are also becoming more complex and subject to software defects leading to increasing customer-care costs and sometimes even device recalls. The Synchronica Device Management server provides advanced device management including automated device diagnosis and repair as well as over-the-air firmware updates helping operators and manufacturers to prevent device recalls and cut customer-care costs. The OMA TestFests provide a valuable environment for Synchronica's efforts to ensure that its server products are interoperable with the broadest range of mobile devices from different manufacturers.
