7/20/2005 - Elma Electronic Inc., a global manufacturer of electronic packaging products, has modified its Type 39c series of sheet metal enclosures to fit seismic racks. All 1U, 2U, and 4U horizontal Type 39c chassis will now have options to fit both 19" racks with an opening of 17.75" and NEBS Seismic Racks with an opening of 17.5" Elma was able to reduce the width of the chassis, but still fit horizontally plugged 6U cards, 3U pluggable power supplies, and a vertically mounted pluggable fan tray and removable filter tray.
Not only did Elma maximize space without sacrificing feature components, the company added features to the unit. The new Seismic Type 39c chassis have improved shielding effectiveness. This is increasingly important in the marketplace as higher processing power is causing more interference in enclosures. Also, the Type 39c has rack ears that are mountable to the cabinet on the front, middle, or back of the chassis. The middle mounting ears are particularly significant as they allow the chassis to be more balanced, stable, and secure in the cabinet.
The Type 39c series, both standard and seismic, are rugged chassis. With a Euro card design, they are standardly able to withstand 15 G at 11 milliseconds of shock. The series gives Elma a low-cost and feature-rich unit that meets the stringent requirements of a NEBS Level 3 Telco environment.
Lead-time of 4-6 weeks ARO.
