SofTec Unveils Universal Starter Kits for Freescale HCS12(X) Family
7/15/2005 - SofTec Microsystems (www.softecmicro.com) unveils two new Starter Kits for the Freescale HCS12(X) family. The ZK-S12-A Starter Kit features a 112-Pin LQFP ZIF socket, while the ZK-S12-B Starter Kit featuers a 80-Pin LQFP ZIF socket.
The Starter Kits have been designed to provide universal support for all present and future 112-pin and 80-pin HCS12(X) devices. The high-quality ZIF sockets allow the device to be easily interchanged-and at the same time provide a reliable socket programming solutions.
The Starter Kits take advantage of the CodeWarrior Development Studio Special Edition (which groups an Editor, Assembler, C Compiler and Debugger) and the Freescale BDM interface, which allows the download and debug of the user application into the microcontroller's FLASH memory.
Together with CodeWarrior, the Starter Kits provide you with everything you need to write, compile, download, in-circuit emulate and debug user code. Full-speed program execution allows you to perform hardware and software testing in real time. The Starter Kits are connected to the host PC through a USB port. A prototyping area allows you to wire your own small application.
Apart from the different ZIF sockets, the two Starter Kits share the same common features:
- Real-time code execution
- True BDM programming and debugging through a built-in USB interface
- CAN area with two fault-tolerant CAN transceivers
- LIN area with two LIN transceivers
- Demo area with four push-buttons, a potentiometer, eight DIP-switches, eight user LEDs and two RS-232 ports
- Prototyping area
- CodeWarrior Development Studio Special Edition, with editor, assembler, 32-KB limited C compiler and debugger.
The SK-S12-A Starter Kit is available for ordering at an end-user price of $650, while the SK-S12-B Starter Kit is available at an end-user price of $395.
