SEGway Signaling Devices Enables Caller Name Display for TARGUSinfo

6/22/2005 - Performance Technologies (Nasdaq NM: PTIX), a leading developer of integrated systems, platforms, components and software, announced TARGUSinfo is using the company’s SEGwayTM Mini-STP and IP-Edge devices to enable the transmission of caller name (CNAM) display information for Tier 2 and 3 carriers across the United States.

TARGUSinfo is the fastest growing CNAM company in the United States. It provides instant CNAM data for every phone number and address in the United States. In addition, processing more than 15 billion transactions a year, the company links virtually every telephone number in the United States with information including a name, postal address, predictive household buying behavior, risk management and store locator information. And according to a recent study by The Paisley Group, the TARGUSinfo CNAM service was judged superior to Network CNAM services in both data accuracy and coverage.

“Since its inception, TARGUSinfo has formed strong partnerships with leading technology companies to ensure we consistently deliver the most innovative and comprehensive solutions to our customers,” said Craig Schmackpfeffer, vice president of engineering for TARGUSinfo. “Combined with our real-time intelligence delivery capabilities, Performance Technologies’ SEGway solutions enable us to provide cutting-edge, IP-based services to carriers, without incurring substantial costs.”

Performance Technologies’ SEGway 6200 Mini-STP consolidates SS7 traffic onto fewer links and performs routing within the network. The SEGway 2200 IP-Edge reduces the distance-sensitive costs of transporting circuit-switched SS7 messages between SS7 network nodes and allows carriers to continue to utilize existing SS7 elements. Combining these two products produces a compelling, integrated solution, seamlessly transporting SS7 traffic over both PSTN and IP networks.

“Through the use of our SEGway products, TARGUSinfo is significantly cutting costs by using IP to transmit the CNAM query and response information to customers rather than a traditional TDM link,” said Deb Brunner-Walker, signaling product manager for Performance Technologies. “By combining the routing and link aggregation features of the IP-enabled SEGway Mini-STP with the proven reliability of SIGTRAN-based SS7 transport enabled by SEGway IP-Edge devices, TARGUSinfo continues to demonstrate its leadership as a CNAM service provider.”
