6/9/2005 - Measurement Computing Corporation announced the USB-SSR24, a USB-based device for monitoring and controlling solid-state relays. The USB-SSR24 offers 24 channels of isolated I/O through standard-size OAC5/ODC5/IAC5/IDC5 SSR modules (the modules are sold separately). The single-piece price is $299.
The USB-SSR24 features:
Measurement Computing’s USB-SSR24 demonstrates that there is a true measurement advantage to using USB-based devices instead of a PCI-based system. Moreover, as PCI slots grow more scarce, the advantage of USB-based data acquisition becomes even more significant.
The USB-SSR24, compared to the equivalent PCI-based system, is easier to use because it represents an all-in-one solution and eliminates the need to open a PC chassis. The USB-SSR24 is also more flexible as the USB interface allows a user to move the device quickly from one application to another or to expand an application to include up to five devices (which would hold up to 120 SSR modules). Additional flexibility comes from the fact that the enclosure is designed to sit comfortably on any benchtop or to be mounted on a DIN rail. Finally, despite these advantages, the USB-SSR24 is almost the same price as the PCI-based solution.
The USB-SSR24 complements Measurement Computing’s other USB-based high-voltage digital products: the USB-SSR08, offering the same functionality as the USB-SSR24 but in an eight-channel form factor; the USB-ERB08 and USB-ERB24, featuring electromechanical relays; and the USB-PDISO8, featuring 8 electromechanical relays and 8 high-voltage (up to 24V AC or DC) inputs. These USB products are robust and rugged, offer high I/O counts, are easily expandable, and are extremely easy to use. They are ideal for use in laboratory, automated test, and industrial monitoring/control applications.
Free software is provided in a variety of forms, one of which will be ideal for any application. All units include TracerDAQTM, Measurement Computing’s powerful stripchart recorder, and data logger software application. Also included is SoftWIRE®, the popular graphical programming interface for Visual Studio .NET.
All USB units also include Measurement Computing’s powerful Universal LibraryTM. The Universal Library is a powerful language interface, allowing users to write programs in all of the popular programming languages using easy-to-understand, high-level command syntax. The USB-series also includes drivers for most popular data acquisition application packages including LabVIEWTM.
Measurement Computing Corporation is a market leader in the design and manufacture of computer-based test and measurement hardware and software. These products include analog and digital I/O boards, serial and GPIB interfaces for the USB, PCI, ISA, cPCI, PCMCIA, PC/104, and Ethernet buses, as well as RS-232/485 serial interfaces.
