5/20/2005 - Concurrent Technologies has released its latest Intel® Pentium® M processor based VME64x single board computers - the VP 347/02x supporting processor speeds up 1.8 GHz, and the 1.6 GHz processor based version - the VP 345/02x. Both products support up to 2Gbytes of 333MHz DDR ECC SDRAM and feature a wide variety of I/O interfaces. These high performance, yet low power boards are particularly suitable for high-speed data exchange, processing and storage in distributed or localized systems with a power consumption budget. For harsher applications a wide temperature version of the 1.4 GHz board is available operating over temperatures of -40°C to +85°C or over -25°C to +70°C. Potential applications include command and control or data processing and storage within the defense, security, industrial-control, telecoms, telemetry, scientific, and aerospace markets.
The VP 347/02x uses Pentium M processors from the latest Intel Pentium M family (formerly called Dothan) with 2 Mbytes on-die L2 cache, on 90nm process technology; the typical power consumption for the 1.8 GHz board is 25.5W and for the 1.4 GHz board is 16.5W. The VP 345/02x utilizes the 1.6 GHz Pentium M processor (formerly called Banias) with 1 Mbyte on-die L2 cache, on 0.13µm process technology; the board's typical power consumption is 24.0W.
Designed particularly for low power applications, thermally efficient memory and I/O controllers were chosen to complement the Pentium M processor. The Intel® 855GME GMCH controller provides access to up to 2 Gbytes of on board ECC SDRAM at a peak rate of 2.66 Gbytes/sec. and the Intel® 6300ESB I/O controller is used to control the many I/O interfaces. These interfaces include four RS232, four USB 2.0, dual Gigabit Ethernet, dual EIDE ATA100 and dual Serial ATA150, plus for user customization, a 66MHz PMC site. Additionally, a 2048 x 1536 graphics interface is supported, including rear panel DVI-D and front panel VGA support. Other features provided are printer, keyboard and mouse interfaces, floppy disk interface, PC real-time clock, watchdog timer and speaker interface.
To cater for a variety of embedded applications, the VP 347/02x and VP 345/02x support options to remote boot the operating system via the Ethernet interface and/or install an on-board EIDE 2.5-inch disk drive or dual CompactFlashTM/MicrodriveTM carrier, all within a single slot. For applications requiring rear I/O connections, a transition module is provided with the board.
The VP 347/02x and VP 345/02x support many of today's leading operating systems, including VxWorks®, Linux®, Windows® 2000, Windows NT®, Windows® XP Embedded, Windows® XP, RTX®, SolarisTM, LynxOS®, QNX® and MS-DOS®.
