5/9/2005 - Fastwel recently launched its new CPC502 SBC. The launch was a great success and ws nominated as Project Team of the Year at the European Electronics Industry Awards Ceremony 2004 in Munich, Germany.
Sharing the architecture with the prize wining board, the CPC502 is a 3U CompactPCI/PXI board based on Intel Pentium M processor running at up to 2.0 GHz, 1 MB / 2 MB L2 on-die cache running at CPU speed with a 400MHz systems bus. the chipset is based on the 82855GME GMCH with Hance Rapid ICH, up to 1GB PC333 DDR SDRAM. Its VGA controller integrated in 855GME with shared memory up to 64 MB. Display interfaces support: analogue resolution to 2048x1536 and TFT LVDS panels. This product specification is rounded up with 2- 64-bit GB Ethernet, Audio controller AC"97 2.3 compliant audio codec, 6-USB 2.0, 2-EIDE Ultra ATA/100 and also 2-SATA. A useful CF Type I/II or Microdrive socket on board. Additional features are Core Spec. PICMG 2.0 R3.0 32-bit 33MHz. PXI hardware spec. Rev. 2.1 Master only.
The mezzanine board can be installed on either side of the board. Having Phoenix BIOS on board, there is a Win2000/XP, QNX and Linux software support. Mechanical parameters of this board are cooled with passive heat sink, would work at temperatures from -40 deg. C to +85 deg. C (with processor screening presumably). Shock/Vibration 50G/5G, MTBF calculated at 80 000 hours. Power supply requirements: 5V @6A and 3.3V @2A. According to Fastwel, this currently is highest performance 3U CPCI/PXI board board will be available on the market in Q1 2005. At the above mentioned European Electronics Industry Awards Ceremony that accompanied recent Electronica 2004 trade show in Munich, Fastwel was announced for its substantial contribution to electronics development as a "company, deserving much credit for their project entries and implementation of an innovative and ultimately successful business strategy". The prestigious awarded was sponsored by such companies as XILINK, Texas Instrument, Toshiba, Analog Devices, OMRON, SONY RENESAS, Agilent and the Electronics Weekly was in the capacity of the Organizer.
