TI Showcases Motor Control Expertise at SPS Electric Automation Show

5/4/2005 - Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) will showcase leading motor control techniques and will demonstrate the recently introduced TMS320F2801, F2806 and F2808 digital signal controllers at the SPS Electric Automation America Systems and Components Exhibition and Conference. TI will be one of 110 exhibitors at the conference, which highlights technological advances in controls, electric drives, sensors, software and motors and will take place on May 23-26 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont (Chicago), Illinois. The conference is the first North American trade event in twenty years focused specifically on electric automation technologies for industrial applications. TI will present two sessions:

  • Kedar Godbole, motor control applications engineer, will lead a technical workshop on the latest implementation of digital signal processor (DSP) based controllers for motor control and review how motor control processor selection impacts system performance and cost. This presentation is being held Thursday, May 26 at 10:15 AM
  • Clark Kinnaird, PhD, systems engineer, will speak on specifying industrial field bus networks for automation and the continuing increase in networked interconnection and the necessary choices in selecting a network technology appropriate for various specific applications. This presentation is being held Tuesday, May 24 at 2:00pm

TI motor control experts will also demonstrate the recently-introduced TMS320F2801, F2806 and F2808 controllers. These new devices integrate a full set of control system interfaces, including TI’s unique, patent pending, high-resolution PWM technology that provides over 16 bits of accuracy in a 100 KHz control loop. Live demonstrations of a single F2808 device controlling multiple three-phase motors will take place at the TI booth, number 727.
