Lattice and Avnet Host XPert Design Solutions Seminars in 19 Cities
4/13/2005 - Lattice Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: LSCC) announced a seminar series featuring the recently announced non-volatile LatticeXPTM FPGA devices. Avnet Electronics Marketing will be the exclusive channel partner working with Lattice to deliver these "XPert Design Solutions" seminars, to be hosted in 19 North American cites. Most seminars also will include presentations from partner companies that provide complementary technologies.
The unique LatticeXP FPGA devices combine non-volatile Flash cells and SRAM technology to deliver a single-chip solution that supports both "instant-on" operation and infinite reconfigurability. Previously, designers have had to choose between the two technologies, a choice that invariably compromised the design solution.
A non-volatile Flash cell array distributed within the LatticeXP device stores the device configuration. At power-up, the configuration is transferred from Flash memory to configuration SRAM in less than 1mS, providing an instant-on FPGA. Further, LatticeXP devices provide excellent security by eliminating the need for an external bit-stream at boot up and the possibility of bit-stream snooping, a major security concern with SRAM FPGAs.
"The LatticeXP FPGA devices offer unprecedented choice to designers," said Steve Donovan, corporate vice president of sales for Lattice. "Bringing together the non-volatility of Flash and the reconfigurability of SRAM -- all in a single, low-cost device - truly does provide the designer with the best of both worlds. Our task is to ensure that the design community is aware of the unique advantages of the LatticeXP devices. Avnet's ability to support demand creation for our leading edge technology products has been proven repeatedly during our relationship, and we are delighted that Avnet Electronics Marketing is our exclusive partner in presenting the XPert Design Solutions seminars," Donovan concluded.
About the XPert Design Solutions Seminars
The half-day seminars are free of charge and feature the new LatticeXP FPGA family and demonstrations of the latest ispLEVER® Design Tools. Lunch will be provided, and each qualified attendee will receive a 128MB memory stick loaded with product information. Seminar attendees also will be entered in a drawing for a free iPod shuffle.
