InMage Systems Inaugurates India Product Development Center

3/23/2005 - Data Continuity pioneer, InMage Systems Inc., headquartered in Santa Clara, California, inaugurated its product development center. InMage’s Hyderabad operations are an integral part of the current design team and will be jointly responsible for developing existing and future products. The center will also provide customer support for the rapidly growing Data Continuity market in the region.

Biography – Kumar Malavalli, Chairman & CEO, InMage Systems
Kumar Malavalli is co-founder of Brocade Communications of which he was CTO for many years. He earned degrees in both Electrical Engineering and in Physics at the National Institute of Engineering in Mysore, India. He worked for ITT Communications, Amdahl, Canstar, and HP before arriving in Silicon Valley from Canada in 1995, the year in which Brocade was founded. He is currently Chairman and CEO of InMage Systems, which he co-founded in 2001.

Kumar is one of the principal architects of Fibre Channel technology, in which he holds patents. He became Chairman of the ANSI T11 Technical Committee, which established universal standards for Fibre Channel. He was also on the Board of Directors of both the SNIA (Storage Networking Industry Association) and FCIA (Fiber Channel Industry Association).

In February 2003 Kumar was inducted into the Silicon Valley Engineering Council (SVEC) Hall of Fame for his contributions to technology. Other awards include the prestigious INCITS (International Committee of Information Technology Standards) for extraordinary leadership and guidance as the Chair of INCITS T11 in the development of 17 standards in the area of Storage Area Networks.

Mr. Malavalli currently invests in and mentors numerous storage networking startups in both Silicon Valley and in India. He also contributes substantially towards his own global vision, which encompasses telemedicine and education. Acting through the American India Foundation (AIF), he has personally sponsored Digital Equalizer Centers at schools in remote villages in India, in the effort to bridge the digital gap that exists between rural and urban areas. These learning centers are equipped with networked PC's and servers that bring basic educational content in Physics, Chemistry, Math, English and Social Sciences electronically to the schools.

Kumar is a member of the Board of Directors of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Silicon Valley Chapter, and is a Trustee of the American India Foundation (AIF).
