JP Mobile Connects Newsweek with SureWave Mobile Office

3/11/2005 - Top executives, sales professionals and IT staff at Newsweek, a unit of The Washington Post Company and one of the top three news weeklies in the U.S., stay connected while on the road with SureWave Mobile Office, a secure wireless e-mail and personal information management (PIM) solution provided by JP Mobile in cooperation with Sprint (NYSE: FON).

Integrated with a variety of Sprint PCS VisionSM Smart Devices, SureWave Mobile Office solution provides Newsweek staff with immediate wireless access to IBM Lotus® DominoTM corporate e-mail, PIM and other Notes-based productivity applications such as customer relationship management (CRM) and sales force automation (SFA). Wireless devices presently being used by Newsweek executives, sales professionals and IT staff include the Sprint PCS Vision Smart Device Treoä 600 by palmOneä and the Sprint PCS Vision Smart Device (Samsung® i500).

“It’s not always practical to lug around and boot up a laptop in order to access e-mail while on the road. We needed a more convenient solution for remote access, one that that would allow our senior execs and sales professionals to stay connected using wireless devices they could always have with them,” said Leonard J. Carella, vice president and chief technology officer for Newsweek. “We are primarily a Domino shop, so it was vital that the solution support Notes. Sprint and JP Mobile worked closely with us as we ran through a short pilot program and then rolled the solution out to our executive team and sales force.”

“In addition to supporting Notes and working on the Sprint network, key drivers in our decision to deploy SureWave Mobile Office included the solutions’ easy-to-use console for centrally managing multiple devices, and the ability to deploy over the air without having to touch each device,” added Len Carella.

The engagement with Newsweek builds on JP Mobile and Sprint’s joint initiative to provide businesses with secure wireless e-mail/PIM solutions that are easy to deploy and manage and provide low total cost of ownership.

“Working with proven enterprise mobility solution vendors such as JP Mobile to meet the unique business needs of our customers is one way that Sprint is fulfilling its vision of being the easiest telecommunications company for customers to work with,” said Tim Donahue, vice president – Enterprise Marketing, Sprint Business Solutions. “We’re committed to meeting the increasing mobility needs of our customers by offering them the ability to choose a solution that best meets the specific needs of their mobile workforce.”

"Secure, wireless access to e-mail is essential for Newsweek’s success in today’s fast-paced business environment. JP Mobile is dedicated to reducing the cost and complexity of wireless e-mail by providing a solution that supports all leading messaging platforms and wireless devices," said Dayakar Puskoor, JP Mobile CEO. “We are thrilled to work with Sprint to help Newsweek enhance productivity through a mobility initiative that leverages their investment in existing technology, enables them to work with their carrier of choice, and allows them to deploy popular, easy-to-use wireless devices.”
