QNX Debuts Ultimate Platform Core Source Kit for Embedded Design Control

3/9/2005 - QNX Software Systems Co. unveiled a new source-code product that will shorten the development cycle and increase design flexibility for developers using the QNX® Neutrino® RTOS.

The new QNX Platform Core Source Kit simplifies software debugging and troubleshooting by providing visibility into the source code for virtually all system libraries and OS facilities. As a result, developers can more easily analyze system behavior for easier code integration, quickly pinpoint the causes of unexpected software behavior for faster troubleshooting, and, when required, fine-tune OS components to address the specific demands of their application.

The QNX Platform Core Source Kit includes source code for the following components:

  • Libraries - system, runtime, networking, encryption, XML, compression, image handling (e.g. JPEG), etc.
  • Driver frameworks - audio, graphics, input, serial, network, etc.
  • POSIX and QNX utilities - cp, grep, ls, mkdir, sed, touch, etc.
  • Networking services - TCP/IP, PPP, QNX io-net, remote file systems, etc.
  • Embedded networking services - tiny stack, embedded web server, data server, etc.
  • Instrumentation utilities - trace logging, trace capture, etc.

"QNX is passionately committed to making embedded device development easier and more cost efficient for its customers, and our product provides companies with the greatest range of source code for the utmost in design flexibility and programming control," said Dave Curley, vice president of marketing at QNX Software Systems. "No other commercial vendor offers such comprehensive access to source code as QNX."

Availability
The QNX Platform Core Source Kit is licensed per project, and will be available in March 2005.
