DVS Celebrates 20 Years of Industry Innovation

2/15/2005 - DVS GmbH was founded in February 1985 by three PhDs from the University of Hanover. Today DVS is a worldwide leading manufacturer of digital video systems for film, television and R&D. The founders of the company recognized in those early years the increasing importance of digital video and in 1986, DVS produced and marketed the first professional high definition RAM recorder. In 1997 the US subsidiary, DVS Inc, was founded in Burbank California. This move put DVS on the Hollywood map, establishing a presence close to its customers, the Hollywood film studios.

With the introduction of OEM products to the market in 1990, the company began developing its second important sales channel as an OEM manufacturer (original equipment manufacturer) of digital video input/output solutions. Sales of OEM products are now a very important part of DVS' overall business.

The introduction in 2003 of the real-time editing and finishing system CLIPSTER was an important milestone in the company's development. The success of CLIPSTER results from its ability to handle in real-time, multi-format video up to film 2K resolution.

The goal to be an all-encompassing supplier for each stage of the digital video production process came a step closer in 2004 with the introduction of the digital disk recorders, Pronto HD and Pronto2k and the central SAN storage system DVS-SAN. DVS-SAN was introduced at IBC 2004 and has already caused a significant buzz in the market. The management team of Dr. Hans-Ulrich Weidenbruch, Dr. Peter Spoer and Dr. Siegfried Beyer are convinced that DVS can maintain its leading position in the industry as supplier of innovative, user friendly technology. Together with its team of 75 highly skilled and well motivated employees, DVS is well set to meet all the technological challenges that lie ahead.
