2/10/2005 - Performance Technologies (Nasdaq NM: PTIX), a leading developer of integrated platforms, components and software solutions, announced it has extended the operating system support of its NexusWareTM Software Suite. NexusWare is a comprehensive, overarching, Linux-based software environment for system engineers using Performance Technologies' embedded platforms and component products.
NexusWare Core, the foundation environment of the company’s existing and future value-add software modules, now allows application development to occur across several different operating systems, including Linux, Windows® XP/2000 and Solaris. The extended OS platform support provides greater flexibility and facilitates design and integration by allowing engineers to develop on their platform of choice.
The NexusWare Core development environment provides a complete suite of development tools and compilers, integrated drivers, and pre-packaged applications and protocols. The latest release also includes the popular Eclipse software package - an open, integrated development interface that provides a powerful framework for cross-platform software development.
“With the availability of open source Linux application packages - from Performance Technologies or a third party - and the robustness of the NexusWare Core toolset, there are few limits to what the application developer can support. Packages can be downloaded from the Web, recompiled with NexusWare Core and be running on the target hardware in a minimal amount of time,” said John Grana, vice president of software for Performance Technologies. “The increase in functionality and the reduction in time-to-market for a NexusWare Core user is something that has never before been achievable in embedded software.”
Performance Technologies recently announced NexusWare ISM, the company’s first value-add software plug-in module for NexusWare Core. NexusWare ISM allows customers to add their own value and functionality into the shelf management solutions of the company’s Advanced Managed Platform products, including the CPC7301 Intelligent Shelf Manager (ISM). NexusWare ISM allows developers to be in programmatic control of specific aspects of the ISM's behavior, heightening their ability to create their own solutions, differentiate their products and accelerate time-to-market for highly reliable, embedded platform solutions.
Future value-added modules of the NexusWare Software Suite -all plug-ins for NexusWare Core - will leverage the company’s existing and evolving media gateway software, WAN communications protocols and SS7 signaling software. NexusWare Core with extended OS support is available immediately.
