2/8/2005 - EDN Magazine, the premier design publication for electrical engineers, has announced six high-profile sponsors for its 15th annual Innovation Awards. Altera, Analog Devices, Avnet, Cadence Design Systems, Freescale Semiconductor, and National Instruments will support the event, which honors the people, products, and technologies that have shaped the semiconductor industry over the past year.
Avnet returns for the third year as platinum sponsor for the Innovation Awards. Altera, Analog Devices, and National Instruments return for the second year in a row, and Cadence and Freescale join the event for the first time.
"As world leaders in supply-chain services, Avnet understands that innovation is the first link in any chain," states Ian Basey, Director of Marketing, Integrated Marketing Team at Avnet Electronics Marketing. "Behind every inventive and original electronic device that hits the market is a team of creative minds that have advanced technology in ways most end users will never realize. It is innovation that fuels our industry, our economy, and our quality of life. By sponsoring this event, we not only salute creativity, we help to ensure its continuation."
"The event sponsors share their commitment to keeping the spirit of innovation burning brightly," adds EDN Publishing Director Stephen Moylan. "Although the industry recognition is critical, we have a larger goal of attracting more people to engineering as a profession. These awards let us show young people that being an engineer lets them express their own talent, creativity, and energy to help humanity."
EDN will hold the Innovation Awards ceremony from 6:00pm to 11:00pm on Monday, March 7th, 2005, at The Palace Hotel, New Montgomery Street, San Francisco, CA. Attendees can register for the event at www.EDN.com/innovation.
