11/29/2005 - Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRCY) announced the establishment of the Mercury Clinical Advisory Board, which will assist in directing the Company's product development strategies in the Life Sciences group, and in breaking new ground in technology innovations that will help drive the future of image understanding in the medical realm. The announcement was made at the 91st Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA).
The Mercury Clinical Advisory will assist in directing the Company's product development strategies in the Life Sciences group, and in breaking new ground in technology innovations that will help drive the future of image understanding in the medical realm. The first appointed member is Board Chairman Keith Dreyer, M.D., Ph.D., Vice-Chairman of Radiology - Informatics at Massachusetts General Hospital and Assistant Professor of Radiology at the Harvard Medical School.
An example of such innovation is the Mercury Visage(TM) product family, which includes volume-rendering and reconstruction embedded software components for accelerated 3D visualization of medical image data. It also includes a fully customizable turnkey medical imaging workstation system, as well as an innovative thin client/server architecture that provides all the capabilities of the advanced Mercury software anywhere in the enterprise. Each product within the family will be architected for 3D to the Core functionality, to provide a fully integrated, seamless workflow solution spanning the entire medical image management and 3D visualization process.
The first appointed member of the Mercury Clinical Advisory Board is Board Chairman Keith Dreyer, M.D., Ph.D. Additional Board members will be announced in the near future. Eliot Siegel, M.D., serves as R&D advisor to the Board.

Keith Dreyer, M.D., Ph.D. is the Vice-Chairman of Radiology - Informatics at Massachusetts General Hospital and Assistant Professor of Radiology at the Harvard Medical School. Dr. Dreyer has held several board, committee and editorial positions for top-tier radiological societies including the ACR, ARRS, RSNA and SCAR, and serves as medical advisor and consultant for more than a dozen global healthcare corporations. He has authored numerous books, papers, and lectures worldwide on PACS (picture archiving and communication systems), distributed medical imaging, web image distribution, image-enabled electronic medical records, medical informatics, natural language processing, advanced visualization, and voice recognition and decision support.
Eliot Siegel, M.D. is Professor and Vice Chair (Information Systems), Department of Diagnostic Radiology, University of Maryland School of Medicine. He will work with the Visage CS Thin Client/Server and will contribute to Mercury's R&D efforts in the area of medical imaging. Dr. Siegel is an internationally known authority in the area of diagnostic imaging, PACS, and imaging informatics, has lectured worldwide and is a widely sought advisor to a multitude of global healthcare companies in the medical imaging and PACS domains. He holds memberships, serves on organizing committees, and is on the board of many professional organizations such as RSNA, SCAR, SPIE, Association of University Radiologists, American Roentgen Ray Society, American College of Radiology, and others.
