International Conference on VLSI Design Spotlights Mobile Embedded Systems

11/15/2005 - Professionals and VLSI Technology leaders from across the world will converge in the City of Hyderabad, India from January 03 to January 07, 2006 at The Taj Krishna, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad for the 19th International Conference on VLSI Design and the 5th International Conference on Embedded Systems. The highlight of the discussion at the conference will be "Mobile Embedded Systems". The VLSI Design conference is the world's leading event for VLSI design and developers. Established in 1985, the Conference gives participants to meet and interact with the greatest minds and innovators in the VLSI Industry.

The VLSI conference will feature a team of internationally recognized Corporate Leaders, Engineering Researchers and Technologists. The list of keynote speakers include:

And over 800 participants from across the world will demonstrate technology innovation in VLSI design.

"The core driving force for supporting Mobile Embedded Systems is its promise of an exponential growth. As mobile devices proliferate and electronic gadgets get richer in features, mobile systems are becoming increasingly "intelligent" and self-contained" Dasaradha R Gude, Chairperson, 19th International Conference on VLSI Design 2006 said, "Embedded systems themselves have transformed so much that today they have become objects of technological attraction and unique from what they did two decades ago. Because, they are not only engineered creatively but they also work in an astonishing way."

The objective is to bring together global technology leaders ceaselessly working on developing innovative methodologies in Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) Design.

The conference is a forum for researchers and designers to present and discuss various aspects of VLSI Design, Electronic Design Automation (EDA), and VLSI technologies. It covers the entire spectrum of activities in the two vital areas, which underpin the semiconductor industry. The conference will feature regular papers sessions, short paper sessions, special sessions, panel discussions, and industrial exhibits. A two-day program of tutorials on January 3-4 on topics of current interest will precede the conference activities of January 5-7.

VLSI Design conference 2006 also offers unique opportunity for industries to interact with each other and exhibit their achievements. Exhibit stalls and presentations from various industries will further enhance interaction with industry participants. A special Research Scholars forum is also being organized where research scholars will get an opportunity to display their work through Posters and obtain valuable feedback from the conference participants. JA Chowdary, General Chair of the Conference said, "The conference is a geat platform for all VLSI professionals to present and discuss many aspects of VLSI Design and Embedded Systems. It is a rare opportunity for students of local engineering colleges and research institutes, academicians and professionals to come to speed with the latest developments in the industry. The previlige to conduct the conference in Hyderabad augurs well for the semiconductor product development in the region."

Among the highlights are a Best Paper Award (Prof. A. K. Choudhury Award), a Best Student Paper Award and two Honorable Mention Awards. Student authors will be identified on the manuscripts. Papers with at least one student author will be eligible for the Best Student Paper Award. A Design Contest Award open to only participants from India will also be given.

The conference is supported by VLSI Society of India (VSI), Ministry of Information Technology, Government of India, IEEE Circuits and Systems and the Society ACM Special Interest Group on Design Automation (SIGDA). The Event is sponsored number of leading organisation including ATI, XILINX-CMC, Cadence, Portal Player,Conexant, Mentor Graphics, Intel, Texas Instruments, Philips, Qualcomm, Freescale and many others.

About International Conference on VLSI Design
The International Conference on VLSI Design was started in 1985, as a small workshop at IIT Madras, under the visionary guidance of Dr. Vishwani Agrawal of Auburn University, and Prof. H.N. Mahabala of IIT Madras. From this modest beginning, it has grown into a leading international conference on VLSI design, which draws around 700 attendees from India and abroad every year. The IEEE Computer Society Press, USA, prints the proceedings. The conference is dedicated to all aspects of integrated circuit design, technology, and related computer-aided design (CAD).

Key Embedded Systems Stats
According to a new report, Future of Embedded Systems Technology from BCC Research Group, the worldwide embedded systems market was estimated at $45.9 billion in 2004. Expected to growth at an average annual growth rate (AAGR) of 14% over the next five years, this market will reach $88 billion by 2009.
