Radisys Reduces Total Cost of Ownership with Long Life Embedded Products

10/20/2005 - At the Embedded Systems Show, RadiSys announced four new products aimed at commercial applications. These include three additions to its popular Procelerant Endura family of long life motherboards, including the industry's first to support the new microBTX form factor. The company is also announcing a new rack mount server.

The new Procelerant Endura motherboards (EM945G, RB945G and OP945G) support the latest Intel 945G chipset and the ATX, microATX and microBTX form factors. ATX and microATX are widely used today and RadiSys is the first to offer an embedded motherboard based on the new microBTX standard. MicroBTX offers a variety of advantages to designers including better thermal properties with inline airflow, reduced noise, fewer system fans, less expensive heatsinks and improved motherboard layout for easier design. The Procelerant Endura motherboards are ideal for use in medical, test & measurement, transaction terminal, industrial automation, gaming and enterprise systems.

The RadiSys RMS420 is a long life embedded server designed for a variety of applications such as appliance servers, medical systems, and industrial control. One version of the RMS420 server adheres to stringent UL864 requirements and is ideal for around the clock operation in fire and safety applications.

"Availability of these new products is further proof of our ability to keep at the leading edge of the Intel product roadmap, meet rigorous industry requirements and utilize the latest form factors," said Wade Clowes, general manager, Commercial Products Segment at RadiSys. "Delivery of these long life products ensures customers have stable products for five to seven years, which has a significant impact on reducing their total cost of ownership and enables our customers to develop time-to-market products."

The new Procelerant Endura motherboards were designed for use in products based on the microBTX, microATX or ATX form factors and the latest Intel 945G chipset. As the first embedded products based on the Intel 945G chipset, OEMs can take advantage of the enhanced CPU and video performance. These latest motherboards are an extension of RadiSys' popular Endura product family, which is designed for long life (typically five to seven years) and can meet 24/7 requirements needed for demanding embedded applications. Additionally, RadiSys provides complete revision control and lifecycle management for its entire Procelerant Endura product line.
