10/17/2005 - Fujitsu Europe Ltd, a market leader in document imaging scanners, announced the introduction of the newest member of its award-winning scanner product family - the fi-5530C. The new workgroup colour scanner combines high performance with innovative design features, ease of operations, and cost-effectiveness. Offering a compact A4 and A3 automatic document feed and scanning speeds of up to 120 images per minute, the fi-5530C is an ideal choice for de-centralised document image capture.
High Speed in duplex mode
In the simplex mode, the fi-5530C impressively scans at 35 pages per minute in colour, greyscale and mono at 200 dpi in A4 portrait format, or 47 pages per minute in A4 landscape format. This latest generation scanner even doubles the number of pages in duplex mode, reaching speeds of 70 images per minute (portrait) and 94 images per minute (landscape) or up to 120 images per minute at 150 dpi in A4 landscape. The duplex facility allows the contents of both sides of a document to be captured in one pass.
Innovative and space-saving
The fi-5530C´s space-saving design ensures that the scanner can be positioned on even the smallest desk areas. To keep its footprint to a minimum, the scanner’s paper output tray can be folded away when not in use. Designed with the user in mind, scan and send buttons allow “one touch operation” making the scanner very easy to use. The scan software Scandall21â included in the package is a scan client integrating a wide range of useful functions. Bundled with the scanner is also Adobeâ Acrobatâ 7.0 Standard, which enables the user to create Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files, the de facto standard for electronic document distribution worldwide.
The fi-5530C document scanner comes equipped with a JPEG compression for greyscale and colour images, as well as CCITT compression for monochrome pictures. If required, the scanned documents can be compressed before being sent to the PC, which optimizes the scan rate. Its integrated dropout colour function can selectively suppress the colours red, green or blue when scanning documents. The user can even switch the background colour of the document from white to black. With true 600 dpi output, and no interpolation, superb image quality is ensured and a variety of image processing functions enable the enhancement of even the poorest originals.
Fast data transmission
The scanner has a dual SCSI-2 and USB 2.0 interface providing true plug and play flexibility and maximum speed for data transmission.
Electronic paper management
The fi-5530C´s automatic document feed (ADF) provides a maximum capacity of 100 sheets (A4 size, 80g/m2). The ADF is ideal for unattended scanning of multipage documents and batches and can handle paper sizes from A8 to A3. Page rotation and automatic paper size detection is available through the driver for increased productivity and the scanner’s unique ultrasonic double feed detection prevents two or more sheets being fed through together.
Availability and price
The fi-5530C document scanner is available in November 2005 at the recommended retail price of £2140.00 plus value added tax.
