10/12/2005 - SDC Systems has announced BIOS support for the Mobile Intel 915GM Express chipset. This new support module enables new and existing users of SDC's Embedded BIOS 2000 to build differentiated products around the 915GM chipset which was developed for high performance, low power applications such as communications infrastructure, industrial box and panel PCs and in-car infotainment.
"The new price performance point of the 915GM Express chipset is enabling many new designs across multiple industry sectors. This new support module from General Software enables users of Embedded BIOS 2000 to quickly migrate to this new chipset and deploy products," said Peter Heyes, Sales Manager for SDC. "The rich feature set of this new support module gives unprecedented power to developers to create and bring highly differentiated products to market."
The support module is offered as an option for Embedded BIOS 2000, the world's most configurable BIOS development kit. Licensed in source code form, developers are free to tailor the BIOS to fit the exact needs of the device they are creating, rather than being constrained by architectures more applicable to desktop PCs. The 915GM Express support module includes full implementation for the chipset's important features, including all power management modes, PCI Express graphics, Intel High Definition Audio and support for DDR2 memory devices. The chipset module is fully compatible with General Software's unique Firmbase Technology and the Firmware Application Suite that enables device management functions like boot security, platform updating and high availability. The module is available for immediate shipment.
