StarGen Presents Two Papers at GSPx Embedded Solutions Event

9/28/2004 - Steve Christo, StarGen’s director of strategic marketing, was invited to present two papers, “Applying Advanced Switching Interconnect to Next Generation Servers and Storage" and "Off the Shelf Serial Switched Interconnects: Cost-Effective Solutions for Communications Access Platforms" at this week’s GSPx event in Santa Clara, CA. Both presentations will be part of the Architectures Track. The presentation on Advanced Switching Interconnect (ASI) technology is designed to provide details on the use of this technology in next-generation storage and sever applications. Specifically, attendees will learn about protocol encapsulation features, data movement protocols, and processing elements that make ASI technology beneficial for use in next generation storage and server applications. The presentation on serial switched interconnects will outline the design approach that will allow communication systems such as media gateways and TDM switches, to utilize standards-based switch fabric technology to reach new levels of performance, flexibility, and scalability. It will also discuss how switch fabrics can be integrated with emerging standards, such as AdvancedTCA, to create high availability modular systems.

StarGen, a semiconductor company specializing in advanced serial switched interconnect solutions, has sold over two hundred thousand StarFabric ports to more than 50 customers worldwide, with design wins across a broad spectrum of markets including storage, communications, high performance imaging, automated test, and video distribution, among many others. The Advanced Switching Interconnect product line, slated for delivery in early 2005, will feature a family of bridges and switches based on the emerging PCI Express and Advanced Switching Interconnect industry standards.

GSPx 2004: The International Embedded Solutions Event (http://www.gspx.com/GSPX/index.html), specifically focused on embedded solutions, will take place at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA.

The conference will take place from Monday through Thursday, September 27-September 30. Steve Christo’s presentation, "Applying Advanced Switching Interconnect to Next Generation Servers and Storage" will take place on Tuesday, September 28, between 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. in Room 201. His presentation, "Off the Shelf Serial Switched Interconnects: Cost-Effective Solutions for Communications Access Platforms" will take place on Tuesday, September 28, between 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. in Room 201.
