9/28/2004 - Magma® Design Automation Inc. (Nasdaq: LAVA), a provider of chip design solutions, announced the “Best Paper” winners for the Magma Users Summit on Integrated Circuits (MUSIC) held here Sept. 16-17. The top award went to Attilla Kovacs of NEC for his presentation entitled, “Reduce Turnaround Time of Large Flat Designs with Blast PlanTM Pro.” Chienhsi Huang of Broadcom was also recognized, for his presentation entitled, “Implementing a Network Device with Blast RTLTM.” The winners were selected by the MUSIC technical program committee from a field of 30 user papers and 6 technical tutorials.
This year’s event also featured a panel discussion on design for manufacturability (DFM). In a packed ballroom, panelists and audience members debated various issues including how to characterize silicon, increase yield and improve collaboration between EDA vendors and foundries. For details, see Electronic Engineering Times’ article on the panel at www.eedesign.com/news/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=47900232.
“We’re very pleased with the results of the expansion of MUSIC. The first conference held in India was very well attended. The consensus among users is that MUSIC Santa Clara was also a tremendous success,” said Pallab Chatterjee, international chair of MUSIC and president of SiliconMap, LLC. “Attendees were impressed with the quality of the presentations, attendance increased by 55 percent and the number of papers presented was double that of last year. The lively discussion during the panel on DFM was especially interesting to the attendees. I look forward to an equally exciting program at the MUSIC conference in the United Kingdom on Oct. 8.”
Magma users who missed the conference will be able to access the MUSIC presentations via MOLTEN, Magma’s online technical support. For more information, visit www.magma-da.com/MUSIC.
