VersaLogic Unveils Cobra Pentium M EBX SBC

9/20/2004 - VersaLogic Corp. announced a new version of its high-performance EBX single board computer, the Cobra. The new configuration includes pass-through style connectors supporting 8-bit ISA (PC/104) and 32-bit PCI (PC/104-Plus) signals giving OEMs maximum versatility in connecting specialized I/O boards and modules to the embedded computer.

The design allows the CPU board to be installed directly over a customer’s proprietary, application-specific I/O platform, with or without additional I/O above the SBC. As Tom Barnum, VersaLogic’s VP of sales indicates, “The pass-through style configuration is a huge benefit to customers seeking flexibility and ease of interface to their own I/O platforms and has become a standard offering supporting many of our medical and industrial OEMs.” Mr Barnum adds, “Off-the-shelf availability of EBX platforms with pass-through style connectors allows our customers to focus internal resources on their proprietary platforms and application software thereby bringing product to market quicker than would have occurred otherwise.”

The Cobra is a complete single board computer on an EBX platform with on-board support for up to 2 GB RAM, Extreme Graphics 2 video, Ethernet, USB, serial communication, and digital I/O. The Cobra includes specialized reliability features, such as TVS devices to protect against ESD damage, a watchdog timer and CPU temperature sensor, and an OEM-enhanced, field-upgradeable embedded BIOS.

This board is currently available from stock. Pricing is about $1,700 in OEM quantities. For additional information contact VersaLogic Corp. at (541) 485-8575 or, or visit their on-line catalog at
