Eurotech Group Acquires the Finnish Company Vikerkaar Oy
9/13/2004 - The Eurotech Group announced the acquisition of Vikerkaar Oy, a Finnish company specializing in microcomputer products for Northern Europe and China. Recently renamed Eurotech Oy, this newly acquired division strengthens the international sales and engineering reach of the Eurotech Group in the Asian and Nordic markets.
"Through the acquisition of Vikerkaar Oy, our group means to especially increase its presence in the Chinese market, a region we have intently watched for several years,” said Roberto Siagri, President and Managing Director of the Eurotech Group. “Finland, from a geographical point of view, is the European door to the central Asian markets and we are convinced that the Chinese market can guarantee us strong growth into the future.”
“For this reason, we have made this additional investment to our infrastructure in the region. Thanks to the experience of the Finnish team, which includes a number of Chinese engineers, together with our existing Shanghai office, Eurotech will have an even more prominent position in the market.
All operations for the Group in the Chinese market now report to Mr. Tomi Hänninen, Managing Director of Eurotech Oy, who on behalf of Eurotech, has recently signed an important agreement with the University of Nanjing, China to support a centre of research on embedded computers.
