9/10/2004 - Enabling video surveillance system developers to move quickly and cost effectively from analog to digital technology while customizing their own products, ATEME, a leading provider of hardware and software solutions for video and signal processing, announced the availability of its new Video Security over Internet Protocol (VSIP) development platform release. The new VSIP development platform now provides a complete hardware and software solution for the development of intelligent network video cameras.
Developed with fast time-to-market in mind, the VSIP development platform is an easy-to-use open development environment. It includes all the hardware, software and tools needed to create a fully digital system for the encoding and transmission of camera surveillance information.
The DSP-based board includes audio and video I/O, a hard disk drive and a camera sensor. The VSIP framework comes with object libraries for MPEG-4 ASP video encoder and decoder, ADPCM audio compression, RTP/RTSP video streaming and PC application examples in source code. The MPEG-4 ASP library for DSP has been highly optimized in this new release, thus decreasing CPU load dedicated to video compression task.
For application design, the development platform includes video surveillance-specific libraries for motion detection, noise filtering, images dating and referencing, alarm management. AES encryption, OSD and privacy zone management, audio event detection and application reload over IP (significant new optional features of 2.0 VSIP release) are also available in option.
As the VSIP is an application-oriented open development platform including a user-friendly and intuitive framework, developers don’t need to have a deep understanding of DSP programming techniques. The VSIP today contains more than 20 application demonstrations and examples in source code to showcase the numerous features of this unprecedented product. Moreover, application software from developers is easy to integrate, allowing straightforward customization for market differentiation.
"ATEME’s VSIP Kit has been extremely well accepted in the marketplace. One customer said that it fits like a hand in a glove when referring to how well the VSIP kit met his needs. By introducing release 2.0, ATEME has done an excellent job fulfilling numerous customer requests for enhancements, thereby adding value and utility to the VSIP Kit”, said Scott Kurtz, Vice President, Engineering, Adaptive Digital Technologies, Inc.
“VSIP 2.0 integrates important innovations, thus demonstrating Ateme's constant effort to increase performance and quality of its products.”, said Marc Guillaumet, Ateme’s Marketing Director. ”VSIP application-oriented development platform benefits from Ateme’s recent audio and video codecs performance improvements, especially on DSP”.
Ateme, headquartered in France (www.ateme.com), is a world-leading provider of hardware and software systems for audio and video compression on DSP. Ateme delivers custom services on top of its development boards and algorithms. Since 2002, Ateme centers its strategy on applicative market-oriented reference designs which target video-security, broadband and multimedia domains.
