ATEME Partners with VCON for Video Telephony Reference Design

9/10/2004 - ATEME, a global leader on audio and video compression on DSP, and VCON (Euronext- Nouveau Marché -ISIN CODE: IL 00 108 30540), a worldwide leader in audio and videoconferencing solutions, announce a partnership agreement to integrate VCON’s ZAPI4TV video telephony solution with ATEME’s unique MPEG-4 video compression and Thunder reference design building blocks based on Texas Instruments’ DSP TMS320DM642. The combined VCON-ATEME solution will deliver a complete video telephony reference design for the TV set-top box and IP video-phone markets.

VCON’s ZAPI4TV solution includes a video telephony client that supports video codecs MPEG-4 from ATEME, H.323 and SIP, the VCON PacketAssistTM set of algorithms for advanced QoS in difficult network conditions, audio compression algorithms and best of breed acoustic echo cancellation. ZAPI4TV also includes VCON’s infrastructure solution based on the VCON Media Xchange Manager (MXM) video PBX and gatekeeper. The MXM provides remote management, customer care, billing support and easy integration with PSTN and H.324M video gateways.

ATEME’s Thunder platform is a complete hardware and software reference design for multimedia applications including IP set-top boxes, IP-video phones, as well as other rich media applications. It features a dual-core processing board, an I/O interface board and a Software Development Kit including audio and video decompression algorithms, system layers, bootloader, Linux Kernel, documented APIs and comprehensive documentation.
