White Electronic Designs Increases Space Savings with 4M x 72 SDRAM

9/3/2004 - White Electronic Designs Corporation (NASDAQ:WEDC) a leading supplier of high-reliability (Hi-rel) semiconductor products for Military and Aerospace applications announces the availability of it’s 4M x 72 Synchronous DRAM.

WEDC’s device (Part number WEDPN4M72V-XB2X) organized as 4M x 72, is packaged in a 21mm x 21mm, 441mm2, 219 plastic ball grid array (PBGA) and weighs 2 grams (typical). The COTS compliant ruggedized plastic, 256Mb Synchronous DRAM provides extended industrial and military temperature ranges.

Benefits include a 67% space savings versus Thin Small Outline Package (TSOP), reduced part counts and a 19% I/O reduction. The WEDPN4M72V-XB2X is a smaller version of our previous WEDPN4M72V-XBX, with the same pinout for design compatibility with existing designs. It delivers high density for increased performance in a smaller form factor. It is also upgradeable to 8M x 72 density within the same footprint. (Contact factory for information).

For high speed operation, the 256Mb SDRAM uses an internal pipelined architecture. The device offers high frequency ranges of 100 and 125 MHz, it is fully synchronous with all signals registered on the positive edge of system cycle clock. A complete data sheet is available for download on the WEDC web site.

Pricing and Availability
White’s 4M x 72 SDRAM, part number WEDPN4M72V-XB2X, is priced at $170.00 (US) each in volumes of 1,000.
