Fujitsu Delivers Smallest Low Volume Production Scanner with fi-5650C

8/17/2004 - Fujitsu Europe Ltd, a market leader in document imaging products, announces the introduction of the fi-5650C - the smallest scanner in it’s class. Equipped with the latest breakthroughs in document imaging technology and features, the fi-5650C demonstrates Fujitsu’s further advancements in the low-volume production colour scanner market.

The new fi-5650C scanner is ergonomically designed with dual control panels that enable both left- and right-handed users to access the scanner according to their needs - even front side operation is an option. This design allows the operator to adapt the scanner according to specific space requirements, and due to the scanner’s extremely compact design it takes up very little office space.

The Fujitsu fi-5650C is unique in offering two independent methods to detect and help avoid document double-feeds. Sophisticated ultrasonic double-feed detection technology, coupled with length sensors, allows users to prevent lost images and enables larger batches of mixed document types to be automatically scanned quickly and reliably. Either detection method can be used separately or combined to accommodate a wide variety of document environments.

As well as being flexible and reliable, the fi-5650C is also extremely fast, scanning in full colour at an amazing 55 pages per minute at 300 dpi (A4). Other key features of the Fujitsu fi-5650C scanner include:

  • 200-page ADF mechanism
  • A8 to A3 scanning
  • Dual interface of Ultra SCSI and Hi-Speed USB 2.0
  • Simplified Windows-based scanner control panel
  • Colour de-skew (document straightening) and automatic document size detection
  • Long document scanning up to 34"
  • Blank page removal
  • Daily duty cycle of up to 8,000 documents per day
  • Page-end detection and page counter
  • TWAIN and ISIS(R) drivers
  • Price: £4238 / €6316

"The Fujitsu fi-5650C offers the best price-to-performance ratio in the document imaging industry,” said David Whitton, European Scanner Business Manager for Fujitsu Europe Ltd. “The introduction of Fujitsu’s first-ever low-volume production, ADF-only scanner, demonstrates our continuing advancement in delivering outstanding scanning solutions for every market. With a daily duty cycle of up to 8,000 documents a day, a remarkably small footprint and incorporating all of Fujitsu’s advanced document imaging features, the fi-5650C boosts productivity and drives down the cost of ownership to unbeatable levels.”

The new Fujitsu fi-5650C low-volume production scanner is available from September through Fujitsu’s imaging channel. For more information about Fujitsu scanners, including the new fi-5650C visit http://www.fel.fujitsu.com
