8/16/2004 - MLDesign Technologies announced a Berkeley socket library that can be used to support interactive operation between MLDesigner models and other applications.
The library includes a sublibary of primitives that perform basic operations defined by the Berkeley socket interface API, a sublibrary of string operators for sending and receiving strings, and a collection of examples that show how to use library components to exchange data under TCP and UDP. Both blocking and non-blocking behavior is supported.
"The Berkeley socket library enables users to integrate MLDesigner models with or into other applications," said Dr. Colin K. Mick, MLDesign Technologies CEO. "Some potential applications for this technology include using an MLDesigner virtual prototype model to emulate the network behavior of a not-yet-developed application, linking two MLDesigner models via a real network to test the operation of new protocols and linking an MLDesigner model so it interoperates with another network-resident simulator or real application."
