Intermec Debut New Bakery Version of RoutePower Route Distribution Tool

8/13/2004 - Intermec Technologies Corp. introduced a new bakery version of its RoutePower® route distribution software. RoutePower is a full-featured route accounting application that automates all route activities, including customer order information, delivery invoicing, inventory management and product pricing. Powerful new application features, such as re-distribution, stale sales reporting, and pre-post activities along with wireless e-mail and GPS tracking capabilities, enhance even further drivers’ ability to be more productive and efficient by providing real-time connectivity to essential customer data.

Co-developed by Intermec and software development partner MobileTech Solutions Inc., the new RoutePower bakery version provides new application features designed specifically for Intermec’s 700 Color Series mobile computers. For example, the new RoutePower re-distribution function permits route drivers to assess customer needs and adjust inventories while en route.

“RoutePower creates opportunities for bakery companies to optimize drivers’ productivity, minimize stales and maximize profitability,” said John Allen, chairman of MobileTech Solutions. “Streamlining route accounting processes maximizes each bakery’s ability to respond more quickly to market transitions.”

Powerful wireless technology features on the 700 Color, such as built-in 802.11b local area network support, BluetoothTM and Wi-Fi, allow RoutePower to transmit data wirelessly within a customer’s network. In addition, cell phones tethered to the mobile computer or integrated WWAN Radios allow sales reps to wirelessly transmit order and customer data over a wide area network.

“Flexibility, the availability of real-time business information and accountability are more important than ever,” said Intermec Vice President Mike Colwell. “Increasing the amount of accurate, up-to-date information available to route drivers directly improves that driver’s success and a company’s bottom line.”
